TORONTO–The Philadelphia 76ers had a chance to sweep the Toronto Raptors and advance to Round 2 on Saturday, but they were unable to find a rhythm and were defeated 110-102 in Toronto. In Game 5, the series will return to Philadelphia.
The Sixers lost their cool a little bit because they were upset with how the game was called. Philadelphia attempted 25 free throws to the Raptors' 35, and the Sixers were called for six more fouls.
Coach Doc Rivers believed that his team would be unable to overcome the officiating in this game because they had allowed them to get inside their heads. Georges Niang fouled out after 22 minutes, Joel Embiid fouled out four times, and Tobias Harris fouled out five times.
"Give them credit, they played hard and physical," Rivers said. "I thought we complained a little too much tonight" (Saturday). We just have to go play."
Embiid was also called for a technical foul, as was Toronto's OG Anunoby, who got into a shoving match with the big man. The Sixers simply could not maintain their cool.
"We definitely lost our cool on some of those calls," Harris admitted. "100%, so we have to stop focusing our energy on that and just play ball."
Philadelphia will now look to complete the sweep of the Raptors in Game 5 on Monday at home.
