يكاد يكون من المستحيل الا تجد قرص من أقراص التوزيعات لينكس عند معظم المهووسين في العالم . هذا لأن لينكس هو نظام التشغيل الذي التي يتم توزيع نسخ  منه مجانا، كما أن النظام مفتوح المصدر يسمح بالتعديل عليه حسب أذواق المستخدمين الذين يستخدمونه. وكما هو معلوم توزيعات لينكس تأتي بميزة تجربة النظام بدون تثبيته على حاسوبك ، لكن في الواقع إمكانات "Live CD" هي ابعد من ذلك بكثير ، إذ تقدم لك هذه الميزة القيام بمجموعة من المهام التي ربما قد لا تعرفها من قبل .

 استعادة الملفات من القرص الصلب 
في حالة تلف النظام الخاص بك وتكون لديك ملفات هامة مخزنة على القرص الصلب لجهاز الكمبيوتر الخاص بك، يمكنك استرجاع تلك الملفات بسهولة مع "Live CD" لينكس. ويمكنك نقل ونسخ ملفاتك إلى قرص خارجي أو استخدام "USB".

البحث وحل مشاكل الأجهزة
لينكس كما نعلم يمكنك تشغيله حتى على الأجهزة التي عفا عليها الزمن (أجهزة الكمبيوتر ذات الموارد المحدودة...)  يمكن أن يكون لها عمر أطول في حالة استخدامها مع هذا النظام . أيضا، إذا كنت تواجه مشاكل مع الجهاز الحالي في نظام تشغيل آخر كالويندوز، يمكنك استخدام "Live CD" لفحص مشاكل الأجهزة لإيجاد حلول لها .

التخلص من تهديدات الفيروسات
معظم الفيروسات التي توجد في ويندوز لا يمكن تشغيلها على أنظمة لينكس ، لهذا يمكنك استخدام "Live CD" لينكس للوصول مباشرة إلى المجلدات والتخلص التدريجي عن الفيروسات واحدا تلو الآخر خصوصا عندما يتعلق الأمر بالنظام تشغيل نفسه .

استرداد كلمات السر 
 هل نسيت كلمة المرور لنظام ويندوز ،لأي سبب من الأسباب ؟ يمكنك الآن استخدام فقط "Live CD" لينكس لتغييرها أو حتى حذفها من دون معرفة كلمة السر.

تصفح بشكل مجهول وتخلص من بياناتك 
يمكنك اختيار "Live CD" لينكس دون الخوف من الوصول إلى ملفاتك أو بياناتك (سجلات وملفات تعريف الارتباط أو ذاكرة التخزين المؤقت) فعندما تقوم باعادة تشغيل يتم التخلص من جميع الأنشطة على حاسوبك وتختفي جميع بياناتك ببساطة .
